Laboratory: Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry

The centre is equipped with Thermo Scientific TSQ 8000 Gas Chromatograph - Mass Spectrometer. The MS part consists of Triple Quadrupole, so MS/MS studies can be carried out. Using Selected Reaction Monitoring (SRM), It is possible to achieve the lower detection limits. This mass spectrometer comes paired with the TRACE 1300 GC along with Auto-sampler for automated sample handling. In addition to this, the presence of Head Space makes this instrument more versatile. Direct Insertion Probe enable us to analyses samples directly on MS.

  • Ion Source Type: EI source programmable to 350 oC.
  • Mass Range: 2.1100 amu
  • Modes: Full scan, SIM, timed-SIM, combined full scan/SIM, combined full scan/timed-SIM, SRM, timed-SRM, combined SRM/full scan.

Gas Chromatograph (TRACE 1300 GC) features:
Consists of Split/Splitless Injectors and multi-mode (including on-column) Programmed Temperature Vaporizing (PTV), column Temperature 400 oC, Polar as well as nonpolar columns are available
Detectors: Flame Ionization Detector (FID) and Electron Capture Detector (ECD).
Applications: Structural elucidation of organic compounds, study of fragmentation process, Molar mass and structural analysis of small biomolecules, Environmental, Flavours, Fragrances, Forensic, Pharmaceuticals, Organic, Chemical, Petrochemicals samples
